Ever since our doors opened in early 2020, Team EWC has been proud to be on the leading edge of defining what “custom work” truly means. As we celebrate our fourth year in business, we are more motivated than ever to inspire people to make their cellar or wine wall dreams come true. And what better way to do that than to share our honest thoughts about what you can expect when working with us?
Here’s a quick Q&A with our founder and passionate creative force, David James. Enjoy!
Can you provide an overview of EWC’s approach to working with clients, from the initial consultation to project completion? We treat each wine room as a unique design project – never a cut-and-paste paste approach! We believe that each wine room should reflect the client, the house and the wines that it displays.
What sets EWC apart in terms of creativity and innovation when brainstorming ideas for wine cellars or walls? We have firsthand design knowledge from visiting European wine cellars, and years of contemporary work carried out in France and Switzerland. This gives us the unique ability to seamlessly blend classic with newer design elements.
How does EWC involve clients in the planning and design process? What level of input can they expect to have? Our clients are involved from the initial consultation all the way through to the start of construction. Their opinions and input are sought – and valued – throughout all stages of the work.
Can you walk us through the typical timeline for a project with EWC, from concept to installation? It starts with a site visit to meet the client or designer, so we can discuss in detail what their needs and wants are. The construction process and timeline are fully explained to ensure that everyone is on the same page. From initial consultation to completion is usually around two months, depending on the type of materials and racking, and any lead times associated with them.
What kind of personal attention and support can clients expect throughout the project? How does EWC ensure a smooth and stress-free experience? We handle the entire project from start to finish. Any and all questions are answered in a timely manner, and the client is kept informed of progress and any changes that may occur. Communication is key!
How does EWC handle challenges or changes during the construction process? We immediately inform the client of any timeline changes and provide ongoing updates. All communication is by email to make sure we have a single coherent thread of messages.
Can you share any memorable success stories or testimonials from previous clients that highlight the positive experience of working with EWC? Certainly! A project that we completed just before last Christmas comes to mind. It was very rewarding to receive a personal handwritten note from the client stating how much they loved the wine wall, and thanking me personally for the service. That truly makes it all worthwhile!
In what ways does EWC ensure quality and attention to detail in every aspect of the project, from material selection to installation? All of our materials are selected from trusted suppliers and subcontractors to ensure that there are no surprises.
How does EWC stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in wine cellar design and construction? We are in constant contact with leading suppliers to ensure that we have the latest products in mind. Our cooling technician is a walking encyclopedia of refrigeration systems and is constantly on the lookout for new technology and more efficient systems.
What advice would you give to someone considering working with EWC for their wine cellar or wall project? Please give us a call, and we will gladly guide you through the process from start to finish. It will be our pleasure!
