While the 2021 holidays were filled with fun, there is also a sense of relief now that the hoopla has relaxed a bit and the promise of a new year can be contemplated in relative peace. I say “relative” because we are thankful to report that business has continued to grow for the Exquisite Wine Cellars team since we opened our doors in early 2020.
We feel incredibly blessed to see our calendar continuing to fill up with work and are honoured to be a part of making our clients’ wine storage dreams come true. Some have very definite ideas about what they want, while others simply know they have a plethora of bottles that are currently in need of a proper, temperature-controlled home.
So, let’s kick things off a with a toast and some constructive daydreaming about what’s possible for you in 2022!
Upstairs, Downstairs – The traditional model of a wine cellar in the basement is one that has stood the test of time. Not only is it a classic storage scenario, cellars tend to naturally protect bottles from direct sunlight and create an atmosphere where humidity can be more easily controlled. But the good news is, your options are wide open if you’d rather have your beloved bottles above ground. Consider one of our now-famous “wine walls” that are virtual works of art in their own right, crafted from materials ranging from antique wood and stainless steel to glass or acrylic and tailored specifically to your own décor desires.
Organisation 101 – Keeping your valued vintages in order may not sound particularly riveting, but it is critical. Good news is, we’ve got the heavy lifting taken care of when it comes to helping you get a structure in place. Consider a grid system, which allows you to track and locate bottles easily, no matter the size of your collection. If you’re just starting to build your stockpile, try organising by style: white, sparkling, red, rosé, etc. But once you hit the illustrious 100 bottle mark, it’s time to start using an inventory app to manage your assortment. There are loads of choices, but our favourite app options allow you to track each vintage, know the recommended consume-by date for each bottle and keep your own tasting notes.
Enviable Extras – Who says your creative conundrum has to stop at wine storage? There are plenty of other options for crafting the ultimate entertaining scenario.
